I wonder when the empathy will become action, the kind of action that comprehensively improves the quality of life for everyone with disabilities. This is the important work ahead, and we must begin before we experience the inevitable explosion of adults with Autism.
Inclusion prevents dehumanization. When a group is included they become real to the mainstream population. What makes them real is the creation of physical, emotional, and intellectual ties or connections.
I simply wish we could decide Autism is life. There doesn’t have to be a win or loss. We can simply enjoy life. The hard and easy. The joyful and sad. All of it is discovery, family, and hopefully destiny…that moment when we realize we were meant to be together.
Inspire Service – whenever and wherever we can our message to engineers and developers should be, “You can help others!” Help them see and understand the importance of including Autism in their development mission. Here in Silicon Valley people want to help others, but often times they have no idea how to do it…you can provide the answer.
Madam Speaker, it is with great pride and appreciation that I bring Russell Ewell’s E-Soccer program to the attention of my colleagues in the House of Representatives. He has created a shining example of how one man’s idea can alter the lives of many for the better.
The most interesting question for me is how this advance in tablet technology might help those with special needs?
