Technology companies are increasingly aware of the need to make their products accessible to those with disabilities. There are accessibility groups or teams charged with this mandate all over Silicon Valley. I will be speaking to one such group at Facebook in October. I began preparing for this talk today when one question upended my thinking.
Should the goal be accessibility or inclusion? I have written about the dream of inclusion and upon rereading have concluded the goal is inclusion.
Accessibility is the means. Inclusion is the goal.
